X Series 2 fonts

We have set-up an English web page for downloading X Series 2 fonts suitable for many languages of Arabic script. I welcome any comments in this thread!

RE: X Series 2 fonts

I have set up a wiki page to discuss the initial hamza issue. It is found here:
http://wiki.ferheng.org/doku.php/initial..._in_sorani

I have found that Unicode has some of the needed forms. I would much prefer a Unicode-conform solution.

Hi Erdal,
I created a specific topic for that discussion. You may update the link in your wiki to that topic.

RE: X Series 2 fonts

Hi Behnam!
First of all, is writing in Persian allowed here?!! :P

Anyway, I recently found your X series fonts. I'm not a Mac user, but I found that you like to spread these fonts. And it seems that at least the license of some of them is OFL's SIL, which is a good license! I'm interested in packaging your fonts for Fedora Linux and I have some questions:
1. Is there anywhere that your fonts can be downloaded at once instead of downloading one by one?
2. It would be nice if we can keep in touch so that I'll know about new versions of the fonts.
3. Do you release all of the fonts under SIL? Is it stated anywhere so I can refer others to it? I can only package fonts which have clear licenses.

Thanks a lot!

RE: X Series 2 fonts

Hi Hedayat,
Writing in Persian or Chinese or anything else is not 'banned' but English is recommended so that there is a level plain field for everyone. (Mac and also my fonts are multilingual)
For Persian you can go to http://irmug.org/portal/index.php
I discovered this SIL license not long ago and applied to my most recently made or updated fonts. I had plan to extend that license to all of them but unfortunately I burned-out and stopped developing these fonts! So there is no more update and no additional license in foreseeable future.
Those fonts not bundled with the SIL agreement, do not have SIL license information within the font. But if it does your job, feel free to bundle them with the license. Also feel free to re-package them for distribution. I was reluctant about this before because they were still subject to update and development. But not anymore, not in foreseeable future.
I also have them all together in my personal iDisk, zipped on Windows platform because apparently Vista can't un-zip files made on the Mac! but this has two problems. Firstly those fonts without SIL license are mixed with those with the license. Secondly, they are placed in my iDisk and I can't guarantee you it would be permanent.

Hello Behnam.
I am
New here and I have seen your post which was informative to me because I have seen that link which you have posted. I have updated this link in wiki. Arabic script is very difficult for me but I tried to learn that.
Thank you so much for this.
