Safari 3
With latest update for Tiger, most Mac users are now using the latest version of Safari, the third version.
I however experienced some improvement and some problems in rtl functionality. Some aqua rendering of page layouts are gone and some characters in text encoding don't behave as they should. I had installed Safari 3 for no more than one hour now and it's too early to go to details but this thread is for any comments about the new Safari. Cheers, Behnam |

RE: Safari 3
I have previously had to re instal the operating system due to an update received from mac. Because of this i lost my trust to the offered updates by mac and ignore the update of safari1 to safari 3 as it was with some other updates, size 300MB. where can i find safari 3 on it's own so i can update it. just to let you know i searched it on mac download page but the windows version came up. Thx

RE: Safari 3
If you don't have any problem with Safari you have, why change it. I'm not sure if it is available separately from the update package. I installed it through OS update. Graphically, you loose some 'aqua' look of buttons etc. RTL text is better now but halfspace (ZWNJ) does not produce halfspace. It produces normal space (on Tiger 10.4.11). But this problem doesn't seem to be the case with Leopard or Safari 3 on Windows.

I don't undrestand why macintash named it 'the world no 1 web browser'. Cheers Babak |

RE: Safari 3
There is an open source project for developing web applications on Mac. Safari 3 is the result of this ongoing project. If you want to keep Safari you have but curious about what is going on with this project, you can download it and have it separately from your Safari. Although it uses your Safari 'shell' for interface.

RE: Safari 3
Hi friends,
I have only one computer running OS X, and the need to test both Safari 3 and Safari 4. While Safari 3 is the official.I do not think he was pushed in Software Update, however, and probably has not been adopted by most users.Even when he was pushed, it remains a safe bet that many users have upgraded. RE: Safari 3
Safari comes with all the features you would expect in a modern browser, like tabbed browsing, popup blocking and built-in search functionality. When you first open the browser, it automatically imports your IE favorites and some settings, including the home page, but Safari also sets itself as your default browser without asking.

RE: Safari 3
Safari 3 is detected as Sys.Browser.Safari.There are specific hacks for Safari implemented in MicrosoftAjax.js.These hacks cause problems with Safari 3 as it uses a new javascript rendering engine called WebKit.I downloaded the full version and I have the exact same problem the app loads, but no text across the top or menus. I can mouse over and it highlights, or even expands down where a menu would be but nothing is written there.
