Parham had similar problem with his Safari and we had a discussion in forum and in private which didn't resolve anything. Maybe removing Safari and all its related folders in your computer and then reinstalling it be the only solution for now.
For writing Farsi, TextEdit does it. As a word processor, Mellel is still the best in the market but there are others that you can find the reviews on Persian site of IRMUG.

You shouldn't have any problem with Mellel. What kind of font do you use? Strange, this is the first time I hear such problem with Mellel. Did you install the last version? Maybe you're mistaken it with AbiWord? That one is mixed-up and 'qhaati-paati'!

If the problem concerns the display of Farsi in Safari, with the characters being unconnected and using only initial forms, it is often because Windows Arabic fonts have been installed (in particular Arial and Times New Roman from Office 2004). Web pages that specify these font names will force Safari to use them, but they cannot display correct Arabic in OS X (except perhaps in Mellel and AbiWord). Removing any Windows Arabic fonts may solve the problem.
Thanks, I never thought of that. Indeed this is something to always keep in mind when encountering Farsi display problem with Safari.

The biggest problem is, one who experiences really has no reason to suspect its even office causing the problem. Truly moronic.

Here is another possible solution to the problem of incorrect Safari rendering of Arabic script when the Office 2004 fonts Arial and Times New Roman are installed. Create a custom style sheet for Safari and invoke it in Safari > Preferences > Advanced when needed. The style sheet can be named arabic.css and should contain the text:

* { font-family: "Geeza Pro" !important }
i met a microsoft developer who works in the mac department at wwdc. i mentioned to him this issue. he siad they are aware of it however the marketing team doesn't think there is any point of spending time on this issue! start sending e-mails guys.

(i got the e-mai of the write person from him so we express our concerns. i don't have it with me at the moment but i will go and find it shortly.)
I had this problem after installing Microsoft Word, but I solved it by removing the newly-installed fonts.
But a few days ago, after using "Maintenance" (an action that is designed to help Mac OSX to run the tasks more smoothly) the same thing happenned again. I am able to see the sites that use Times New Roman as their default font (Like BBC Persian) but others like Gooya, or this website (the Persian section) do not show up correctly. I think there is a problem with san-serif fonts such as Tahoma or Arial but I can not figure out how I can fix the problem. I contacted the creator of "Maintenance" but he seemed completely uninterested to help me out.
Any suggestion?
By the way, a few other things related to the subject:
1. When I use Firefox I can see the same pages I have problem with in Safari. What is the reason.
2. I downloaded Maintenance from here:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/au...nance.html
Contact the owner if you like and ask him to fix the problem.
3. I tested the CSS somebody suggested here ({ font-family: "Geeza Pro" !important }) but it didn't work.
I don't dare installing "Maintenance" after what you've just said but it seems that it affects Preferences of applications. Check your Safari preferences and see if default font has changed (it shouldn't be any Arabic font)
Try to find out what font is being used in broken text pages. I'm not sure how to do that though. Maybe copy and paste a portion of the text on TextEdit and if it showes the same broken text, use command+T to see what font is highlighted.
With upcoming OS 10.4.3 there is supposed to be a major improvement in BiDi (Bidirectional) text support which will also affect the performance of Safari. For the time being, it's better not to change the default font of Safari to any Arabic or Persian font.
I checked the font the way you explained. It is Tahoma that doesn't show up properly. I haven't changed anything in Safari's preferances.

Does anybody know where I can download the font Tahoma again?
